This week I’ve had the pleasure of working on a group initiative with highly productive people committed to achieving an ambitious goal in a brief timeframe. There have been times in my career when I have had difficult group experiences. Dealing with different personalities, inequality of effort and conflicts is often frustrating.

Recently I helped a business owner who was expressing disappointment and frustration at her team letting her down. Over recent months she had experienced a revolving door of team members that were not delivering or leaving, and projects ending badly.

Apparently we have 2 million bits of information coming at us every second and it would be completely overwhelming if we had to be tuned into everything, always. Therefore our mind filters information into chunks of information and constantly takes ‘shortcuts’ to make sense of the world around us.
